About the Place
Nestled just a stone’s throw from the Natural History Museum and a short walk from South Kensington tube station, La Brioche is a charming café that captures the heart of London’s vibrant breakfast scene. This unassuming spot on Old Brompton Road serves up fresh, flavorful dishes that cater to a wide range of tastes, from classic full English breakfasts to inventive paninis and generously filled sandwiches.
The charm of La Brioche lies not only in its menu but also in its warm and attentive service. Staff here are known for their friendliness and willingness to accommodate special requests, whether you crave a hearty meat-filled omelet or a vibrant veggie option with a kick of their flavorful hot sauce. The food arrives quickly, often in under five minutes, which makes it a perfect pit stop for a busy morning or a leisurely brunch.
The brioche breakfast comes highly recommended, combining softness and richness that sets the tone for an incredible meal. Coffee lovers will appreciate the attention to detail, with well-crafted lattes and a selection beyond the usual instant options. Freshly squeezed orange juice adds a refreshing, natural touch that perfectly complements the savory dishes. The paninis and toasties, displayed temptingly at the counter, are as visually appealing as they are satisfying — each bite revealing fresh ingredients and balanced flavors.
Value here is notable, especially given London’s high prices. Generous portions and reasonable prices make La Brioche a smart choice for those looking for both quality and quantity. While some have noted the lack of restroom facilities and an oily kitchen aroma that lingers on clothes, these minor drawbacks pale in comparison to the overall dining experience. Many patrons suggest takeaway as a way to enjoy the food without these small inconveniences.
From the cozy kitchen to the inviting atmosphere, La Brioche feels like a hidden gem where food quality and genuine hospitality take center stage. Whether you’re local or visiting, it’s a must-visit for anyone craving a satisfying, freshly made breakfast or lunch in South Kensington.
“ Nice little cafe, friendly staff & amazing food/drinks freshly made. Good value for money as well considering London prices. Only issue is no toilets. ”
“ Loved it! The brioche breakfast was amazing! Lattes were perfect. Order the fresh squeezed orange juice. I had a cheese and red pepper omelet with hot sauce. Ask for the hot sauce! It's flavorful and spicy ”
“ Great food, friendly staff, any type of breakfast you want, I believe they are willing to accommodate. In from the US and with all the pastry shops here, I want my type of breakfast with MEAT! They made it HAPPEN. A great tasting omelet, and for later a sandwich booked with meat or my choice and cheese which was fresh and intriguing. A must go to. Highly recommend. They do charge more to find in as they have a small space to work with and are usually packed. I took my meals to go. ”
“ Great breakfast at a reasonable price. Came with a fancy coffee too, not just filter/instant coffee. The toasties/paninis looked insane. Would defo like to come back to try one. Service was really good. The guy was friendly and quick. ”
“ The breakfast here is quite nice — tasty and reasonably priced. However, the overall restaurant design seems to have poor ventilation, which results in a very strong oily cooking smell throughout the space. Unfortunately, the smell really clings to your clothes — my shirt and jacket ended up quite smelly after the meal. Would recommend for takeaway, but not ideal if you’re planning to dine in and head somewhere afterwards. ”
